Caterpillar and Vertiv Holdings are two industrial companies poised to benefit from the artificial intelligence spending boom. Caterpillar's power and energy division, which supplies reciprocating engines and generator sets for data centers, saw revenue jump 21% year over year to $7 billion in its most recently reported quarter, contributing to overall company revenue growth of 22% to $17.4 billion. The company dramatically raised its forecast for power generation product sales, now expecting them to triple from 2024 levels by 2030. Vertiv, a specialized manufacturer of liquid-cooling and critical-power solutions for AI-ready data centers, posted net sales of $2.65 billion in its first quarter, up 30% year over year, with free cash flow surging 147% to $653 million and net income more than doubling to $390 million. Vertiv also lifted its full-year guidance, now projecting top-line growth approaching 30% to between $13.5 billion and $14 billion, with adjusted earnings of $6.30 to $6.40 per share.
