Cathie Wood's ARK Invest says AMD chips can already be more performant per dollar than Nvidia chips on select workloads, signaling a shift in data center cost efficiency. ARK's Director of Research, AI & Cloud, Frank Downing, noted AMD is using the same strategy that boosted its server CPU revenue share from near zero in 2017 to 46% by the first quarter of 2026. AMD is launching Helios, a rack-scale solution, in the second half of this year, with commitments from OpenAI, Meta, and Oracle. ARK forecasts the total addressable market for AI systems will triple to 1.5 trillion dollars in annual sales by 2030, and sees agentic AI as a tailwind for AMD's core chip business.
