Charles River LaboratoriesCharles River will provide NGS and viral safety testing services for Arovella's cell therapy, generating revenue and deepening client relationships.

Charles River Laboratories announced a collaboration with Arovella Therapeutics to provide Good Manufacturing Practice Next Generation Sequencing services for cell characterization, supporting Arovella's invariant Natural Killer T cell therapy platform for cancer. The FDA has approved the use of NGS for viral safety testing of two cell banks producing reagents for Arovella's lead candidate ALA-101, a CAR-iNKT cell therapy targeting CD19-positive B cell lymphomas and leukemias. Charles River will also perform viral safety release testing on clinical batches of ALA-101. The collaboration aligns with Charles River's strategy to deepen client relationships and accelerate development with alternative methods, and follows its recent acquisition of Pathoquest to enhance NGS capabilities.
