The Shanghai Composite Index fell 6.4% for the month, and the CSI 300 Index dropped 7.9%, both posting steep losses. Chinese leadership stated on the 30th that it will strive to achieve breakthroughs in cutting-edge technology and promote the development of future industries, while BNP Paribas analysts noted that the July Politburo meeting reiterated a focus on capital market reform and strengthening market resilience. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index closed 0.10% higher at 25,884.43, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index ended 0.38% lower at 8,612.15.
