China Gold announced at its first media open day on August 8 that traceability code technology has been fully implemented across all categories of investment gold bars. Consumers can scan the QR code on a gold bar to access all quality inspection information, including origin, weight, and specifications. The technology was launched in cooperation between China National Gold Group Jewelry and the National Gold and Silver Product Inspection and Testing Center in Nanjing. Zhou Hanlin, general manager of China Gold Group Marketing, stated that the traceable gold bars use a three-code integration system, allowing full lifecycle management information to be queried through the bar code, and that labor costs have not increased due to the technology upgrade. Data from the China Gold Association shows that demand for gold bars and coins grew 28.42 percent year-on-year in the first half of this year. Association vice president Li Liang noted that a standardized, traceable gold investment system has become a common standard in mature markets worldwide.
