China's Commerce Ministry Firmly Opposes US Criticism at G20

Huang Ling, spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce, on the 3rd criticized the Trump administration's actions at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting held in the United States, stating that China "firmly opposes" demands to correct current account imbalances and overcapacity targeting China. At a press conference, Spokesperson Huang accused the US of using the multilateral forum to stir up issues about China, promote protectionism, and create pretexts to pressure China. The US administration is reportedly considering imposing an additional 7.5% tariff on imports from China on grounds of overproduction.
