China’s daily fuel oil exports reached 577,000 barrels in June, the highest level since the start of the year and an 18% increase from June 2025, according to official customs data cited by Reuters. The surge pushed total fuel oil exports for the first half of 2026 to 10.87 million metric tons, a 7.7% rise compared to the same period last year. The increase was driven by stronger shipping demand, particularly in the second half of the month, as lower prices attracted buyers. Meanwhile, overall refined product exports fell 18.3% year-on-year to 4.36 million tons, with gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel shipments still constrained by government restrictions. Fuel oil imports also rebounded in June, rising 76% from May’s record low, though they remained 30% below June 2025 levels, and first-half imports slipped 3.6% to 9.39 million tons.
