China is soliciting opinions from businesses, trade associations, local authorities, and US business groups on a framework for reducing import tariffs between China and the United States, covering trade worth about 30 billion US dollars. China's Ministry of Commerce said working groups from both countries remain in close communication on the details of the tariff reduction framework, including the structure, role, and operational model of the trade committee that both sides agreed to establish. After China and the US reached a trade truce late last year, the two countries agreed this year to set up such a committee to study ways to lower tariffs on each other's goods, covering roughly 30 billion dollars in trade. Agricultural products will be among the goods included under the tariff reduction framework. A Chinese commerce ministry official said Beijing and Washington will accelerate efforts to reach an agreement on the details of the measures as soon as possible and push for implementation to further expand bilateral trade.
