China has announced it is closely monitoring the United States' moves, following reports that Washington is preparing to impose a 7.5% tariff on imports from China over allegations of excess production capacity, while reserving the right to take necessary countermeasures. Huang Ling, spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce, reiterated China's opposition to the US investigation and said China will comprehensively monitor and assess the next steps. This stance comes after the US Supreme Court struck down previous tariff measures, which could bring tariff rates back to the level previously agreed upon by both sides. Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on the US to return bilateral relations to the proper track. This tension arises even though both countries are under a trade truce agreement.
