Circle Internet Group, Inc.Circle unveiled its new Arc blockchain, a general-purpose network for payments and tokenized finance with BlackRock and Visa as validators.

Circle Internet Group has unveiled a new blockchain called Arc, as the stablecoin developer seeks to diversify beyond issuing its $74 billion USDC stablecoin. In a statement, Circle said Arc will help it become one of the biggest blockchain companies providing the rails for moving money and financial assets onchain, describing the network as a general-purpose "economic operating system" for payments, tokenized financial markets, lending, trading, and commerce. Major companies including BlackRock and Visa are among Arc's first validators, and Circle's payments network is being integrated directly into the blockchain along with its foreign-exchange platform for cross-currency settlement. Transaction fees on Arc are paid with Circle's USDC stablecoin, the company said. The launch comes amid growing competition in the global stablecoin market, and after Circle was dealt a blow earlier this year when a group of 21 financial institutions, including Bank of America and Goldman Sachs, announced plans to launch their own U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin in 2027. CRCL stock has declined 36% in the past 12 months to trade at $86.30 U.S. per share.
