Meta Platforms Inc.Citi names Meta as a top AI stock benefiting from hyperscale investment in AI workloads.
Citi has raised its global data center growth forecasts, citing accelerating hyperscale investment in high-performance computing and AI workloads, and has named a list of stocks it expects to benefit across multiple sectors. The bank now projects global data center IT load will grow at a 25% compound annual rate, rising from 121 gigawatts in 2026 to 370 gigawatts in 2031, with annual absorption accelerating from 35 gigawatts in 2026 to 60 gigawatts in 2031. Citi notes that short-term supply constraints from energy availability and regulatory pauses in Texas and New York should be resolved constructively, and that pre-leasing could extend into 2028-2030. The bank recommends buying data center stocks Equinix, Digital Realty Trust, and TeraWulf, and names NextEra Energy and FirstEnergy as utility winners, AMD and Celestica in semiconductors, Amazon, Alphabet, and Meta in internet, and Microsoft, Oracle, and neocloud providers in software.
