Wuhan Hiteck Biological Pharma Co LtdClinical trial application accepted for first-in-class DR4/DR5 agonist in chondrosarcoma, a disease with no approved drugs.

Wuhan Hiteck Biological Pharma's clinical trial application for injectable epratuzumab, brand name Shaite, for the indication of unresectable or metastatic classic chondrosarcoma has been accepted by the National Medical Products Administration. The drug is a national Class I recombinant protein innovative drug independently developed by the company, and is the world's first and only marketed death receptor 4/death receptor 5 agonist. Chondrosarcoma is the second most common primary malignant bone tumor, with an incidence of about one in two hundred thousand. It is typically resistant to radiotherapy and conventional chemotherapy, and to date no drug has been approved for this indication. An investigator-initiated trial of epratuzumab monotherapy for advanced chondrosarcoma showed some tumor-suppressive effect, and non-clinical and clinical studies indicate that drugs targeting DR4/DR5 have good efficacy against chondrosarcoma.
