The City of Coconut Creek and Republic Services have launched Florida's first fully electric residential recycling and waste collection fleet. The fleet includes six McNeilus Volterra EVs, which are described as the industry's first fully integrated zero-emission electric recycling and waste collection vehicles. The trucks feature 360-degree camera systems, lane-departure sensors, automated emergency braking, and audible alerts for pedestrians and motorists. Coconut Creek Mayor Jeffrey Wasserman said the launch brings curbside recycling back to the city and will be celebrated with community events. Republic Services operates North America's largest electric collection fleet, and the company said the new fleet will provide quieter operations while maintaining reliable service.
