CoreWeave, Inc. Class A Common StockNarrower Q2 loss and $25B in new Q3 commitments beat expectations

CoreWeave shares surged 10% in after-hours trading after the AI infrastructure company reported a narrower-than-expected second-quarter loss and disclosed an additional $25 billion in third-quarter commitments on top of its existing $104 billion backlog. The company posted a loss of $1.14 per share on revenue of $2.5 billion, beating analyst estimates for a loss of $1.41 per share on roughly the same revenue. The $104 billion backlog, which includes commitments from major clients like Meta, Microsoft, and OpenAI, was already anticipated, but the revelation of an extra $25 billion in Q3 sign-ups drove the stock higher. CoreWeave, which rents out data center capacity to AI firms, faces emerging competition from SpaceX and potentially Meta, though neither is yet operating at the same scale.
