CoreWeave, Inc. Class A Common StockCoreWeave's high capex ($31-35B) vs low revenue ($6.2B) and rising interest expense ($536M) raise spending concerns.
CoreWeave shares fell 11.4% on Friday to close at $71.88, erasing the week's gains and leaving the stock below Monday's close of $73.06. The sell-off came despite Alphabet lifting its 2026 capital spending outlook by $15 billion to as much as $205 billion and signaling it would expand use of third-party capacity, which had initially boosted CoreWeave shares in after-hours trading. Investors instead focused on the cost of meeting that demand, as CoreWeave plans $31 billion to $35 billion in capital expenditures this year against trailing 12-month revenue of about $6.2 billion, while net interest expense surged to $536 million in the first quarter of 2026 from $264 million a year earlier. The company's $98.8 billion revenue backlog is heavily back-weighted, with only 36% expected to be recognized within 24 months, and competition concerns grew after a report that Meta Platforms is building a cloud business to sell surplus AI computing capacity. CoreWeave's market value of roughly $39 billion remains about six times trailing revenue, which some analysts consider too high for a speculative company.
