CoreWeave, Inc. Class A Common StockCoreWeave beat Q2 revenue and loss estimates, guided Q3 above consensus, and reported a $104B backlog.
CoreWeave shares jumped nearly 16% in after-hours trading on Tuesday after the company reported second-quarter results and an analyst highlighted an extended Nvidia A100 contract as evidence that older AI GPUs can remain valuable far longer than expected. Revenue reached $2.58 billion, topping the $2.56 billion consensus, while the adjusted loss of $1.03 per share was narrower than the anticipated $1.22 loss. The AI cloud provider ended the quarter with a $104 billion revenue backlog, more than triple the year-ago figure, and noted that the backlog excludes over $25 billion in additional customer commitments secured early in the third quarter. For the third quarter, CoreWeave guided revenue of $3.45 billion to $3.6 billion and capital expenditures of $11.5 billion to $13.5 billion. Futurum Group CEO Daniel Newman and market strategist Shay Boloor both pointed to a CoreWeave A100 contract extending through 2029, with Boloor saying it shows Nvidia GPUs launched in 2020 can still generate revenue nearly a decade later, improving returns on infrastructure.
