Dell Technologies IncAI server orders, revenues, and backlog surged, with strong demand from hyperscalers and enterprises

Dell Technologies shares have surged 213.2% year to date, driven by explosive growth in AI infrastructure. In the first quarter of fiscal 2027, AI server orders reached 24.4 billion dollars, AI server revenues jumped 757% year over year to 16.1 billion dollars, and the AI server backlog expanded to 51.3 billion dollars. The company expects 60 billion dollars in AI server revenues for fiscal 2027, nearly 2.4 times last year's level, and projects total fiscal 2027 revenues between 165 billion and 169 billion dollars with non-GAAP earnings of 17.90 dollars per share. While AI demand fuels top-line growth, gross margin declined to 18.1% due to a mix shift toward lower-margin AI servers, and management cited memory supply constraints as a key bottleneck. Dell's customer base now exceeds 5,000 across hyperscalers, neocloud providers, sovereign AI projects, and enterprises, and the stock trades at a forward price-to-sales ratio of 1.45 times, above peers Super Micro Computer and Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
