DePuy Synthes has acquired Expanding Innovations, a move that strengthens the Johnson & Johnson MedTech subsidiary's spine portfolio and its position in the fast-growing expandable interbody cage segment. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition brings Expanding Innovations' X-PAC TLIF expandable posterior cage and X-PAC LLIF expandable lateral cage system into DePuy's lineup, complementing its existing TriALTIS spine system and VELYS robotic-assisted surgical platform. DePuy Synthes worldwide president Namal Nawana said the addition furthers the company's commitment to market-leading spine solutions and will strengthen its position in a high-growth segment. The global spine surgery market is forecast to reach around $25.1 billion by 2035, according to GlobalData analysis.
