The Digital Television Association of Thailand has submitted a letter to the chairman and all seven commissioners of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission ahead of today's meeting, demanding legal clarity on the status of Clinical Professor Dr. Sorn Boonbaichaipruek, the NBTC chairman, after the selection committee voted 4 to 0 on July 17, 2026, regarding his qualifications. The association is concerned that if legal disputes persist, the calling of meetings, the chairman's role, and voting on key agendas could later be challenged for legality. This meeting's critical agenda items include the Digital TV Roadmap, which has reached its 30-day deadline for reconsideration, and the National Streaming Platform, or NSP, an infrastructure for distributing content online. The association, whose members hold 15 digital TV licenses, has proposed that the NBTC commissioners urgently verify legal clarity, expedite the Digital TV Roadmap review within the timeframe, and ensure the meeting process is free of legal doubt, so that operators can plan their businesses with confidence before the current licenses expire in 2029.
