Dow IncDow's closure of its UK siloxane plant reduces global supply, potentially supporting prices, but the article focuses on Dongyue's earnings, so impact on Dow is indirect and negative due to capacity reduction.
Dongyue Silicon Materials disclosed its 2026 interim report, with first-half net profit attributable to shareholders of 429 million yuan, up 916.22 percent year on year. The company achieved revenue of 2.665 billion yuan, up 14.5 percent, and basic earnings per share of 0.36 yuan, up 800 percent. The sharp increase in performance was mainly due to a year-on-year rise in prices of major silicone products. The average market price of silicone DMC was about 14,400 yuan per tonne, up around 13 percent year on year, while upstream industrial silicon prices remained low, lifting gross margins. At the industry level, no new domestic silicone monomer capacity came on stream in the first half. By the end of June, domestic silicone DMC capacity was about 3.44 million tonnes. In July, Dow announced the closure of its basic siloxane plant in the United Kingdom, involving capacity of 145,000 tonnes, accounting for about 30.5 percent of total European capacity. CITIC Securities expects silicone prices in the second half to range between 11,500 yuan and 13,000 yuan per tonne, still at a relatively low level.
