DoorDash, Inc. Class A Common StockFAA Part 135 certification enables DoorDash to launch its own drone delivery service, expanding operations.

DoorDash has received FAA Part 135 certification to operate commercial drone deliveries in the United States, launching its own in-house program called DoorDash Air. The certification allows the company to move beyond limited pilot exercises and operate as a formally regulated air carrier. DoorDash Air is intended to support mid-range deliveries of three to five miles, a segment management says has historically taken longer to fulfill because those trips are less attractive to couriers. The company expects that routing more of these orders to drones could free human Dashers for shorter, higher-throughput routes while giving merchants an additional fulfillment option for essentials, groceries, and hot meals.
