The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed more than 300 points higher on Tuesday, while the Nasdaq rebounded strongly on a surge in chipmaker stocks, overshadowing negative factors from Middle East tensions and tariff disputes. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 52,224.64 points, up 385.38 points or 0.74 percent. The S&P 500 closed at 7,509.20 points, up 65.92 points or 0.89 percent. The Nasdaq closed at 25,837.21 points, up 329.13 points or 1.29 percent. European stock markets also closed higher, with the Stoxx 600 closing at 643.19 points, up 0.56 percent. West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures rose more than 2 percent to close at 84.91 dollars per barrel amid supply concerns in the Middle East, while COMEX gold futures rose 1.51 percent to close at 4,076.40 dollars per ounce.
