The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell more than 500 points, pressured by a slump in technology stocks and a spike in oil prices. At 9:02 p.m. Thailand time, the Dow was down 516.52 points, or 0.99%, to 51,702.06. The S&P 500 dropped 0.99% and the Nasdaq tumbled 1.78%. Alphabet, the parent company of Google, slid nearly 4% after reports that the European Union fined Google 890 million euros under the Digital Markets Act, and as investors worried about rising spending on artificial intelligence. Tesla shares fell 6% after disappointing earnings. West Texas Intermediate crude surged more than 4%, breaking above 90 dollars a barrel, after Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed to have attacked two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, and as President Trump threatened to strike Iranian infrastructure if commercial ships are attacked in the Strait of Hormuz. Analysts at Deutsche Bank said inflation remains a key concern, and that Middle East tensions showing no signs of easing could force central banks to continue raising interest rates.
