Investors continue to monitor the interest rate outlook of the Federal Reserve. The Federal Open Market Committee voted 9 to 3 to keep the short-term interest rate at 3.50% to 3.75% at its July 29 meeting, in line with market expectations. The three members who dissented in favor of a 0.25 percentage point rate increase were Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack, Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari, and Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan, who expressed concerns about inflation remaining above the Fed's 2% target for more than five years.
