A survey published by the European Central Bank shows that eurozone inflation expectations have remained broadly unchanged over the past three months, with price growth seen slowing sharply next year before declining to the 2% target in 2028. Inflation this year is expected to average 2.7%, unchanged from the previous forecast, while the 2027 figure was raised to 2.2% from 2.1%. Growth this year is seen at 0.6%, down from the 1.0% forecast three months ago, and next year's growth was revised down to 1.2% from 1.3%. The ECB left its policy rate unchanged on the 23rd but hinted it could move to tighten further as early as September.
