AdvanCell Pty, a biotechnology firm backed by Eli Lilly & Co., has raised $315 million in new funding. The Boston-based company is developing radioligand therapies that combine tumor-targeting molecules with radioactive drugs to precisely attack cancer cells. The Series D round was led by Ally Bridge Group and Alpha Wave Ventures, with participation from Bain Capital and Fidelity Management & Research Company, and values the Australian-founded firm at more than $600 million. AdvanCell will use the capital to fund mid-stage clinical trials for its lead prostate cancer drug ADVC001, bring a second drug candidate to human trials, and accelerate expansion of its US manufacturing operations, which could ultimately produce up to 100,000 doses per year. The company has begun a Phase 2 study in Australia and is seeking clearance to enroll US patients, aiming for around 100 participants total.
