Tesla IncTerafab will produce AI compute for Tesla's Optimus robot, indicating demand for its products.
Elon Musk’s planned Terafab semiconductor manufacturing facility in Grimes County, Texas, will span 100 million square feet, making it more than five times larger than the current world-record holder, the 18.9-million-square-foot New Century Global Center in Chengdu, China. The facility, which will serve both Tesla and SpaceX, aims to consolidate logic, memory, packaging, and testing under one roof to ease supply chain issues and produce over 1 terawatt of AI compute hardware annually. Musk stated that roughly 25% of the AI compute output would go to Tesla’s Optimus humanoid robot and 75% to AI spacecraft. The project was reported by Fortune on Monday.
