Emerson has introduced new software that automates crude scheduling and product blending, two of refining's most time-intensive and margin-critical processes. The solutions, Crude Schedule Optimization and Multi-Blend Optimization, are available as separately licensed products within Aspen Unified Scheduling, part of the broader Aspen Unified platform. Crude Schedule Optimization uses data from Aspen Unified PIMS to automatically determine optimal crude receipts, transfers, blends, and production schedules, while Multi-Blend Optimization simultaneously optimizes recipes for each batch of blended product to reduce quality giveaway and lower component costs. By integrating planning, scheduling, and blending into a single platform, the software enables refineries to turn optimal plans into realistic schedules faster, improving margins and responsiveness to market volatility.
