The Ministry of Energy has confirmed that Thailand maintains energy security and faces no oil shortage, while preparing both short-term and long-term measures in response to rising global crude prices driven by geopolitical conflicts. WTI crude is trading at approximately $92.65 per barrel, Brent at approximately $97.31 per barrel, and Dubai at approximately $100.16 per barrel, with prices potentially remaining elevated until early next year. The ministry is accelerating the diversification of crude oil import sources across multiple regions to reduce the risk of over-reliance on a single source. Meanwhile, the Fuel Oil Fund recorded a negative balance of approximately 83.291 billion baht as of September 6, 2026, but will be managed prudently to minimize impact on the public and maintain long-term fiscal discipline. The ministry spokesperson stated that the public need not worry about oil shortages and urged cooperation in using energy efficiently, including opting for E20 gasohol in compatible vehicles to reduce imports.
