England's World Cup semi-final drove pub footfall up 316% at the 7pm peak compared with a normal Wednesday, according to guest WiFi data from Purple. Across the whole day, visitors were up 82%, rising to 150% from 5pm onwards. WiFi logins increased 54% across the day and 140% from 5pm, with logins doubling in the 15-minute half-time break. Young adults led the surge, with visitors aged 18-24 up 199% and 25-34s up 115%, while over-65s rose just 5%. Female visitors were up 91% across the day against 80% for men, and up 140% from 5pm against 121%. Requests to sports websites across Purple's network rose 592%, media sharing 246%, social networks 177%, and gambling websites 470%.
