Boston Dynamics Opens Robotics Center at Hyundai Georgia EV Plant
Boston Dynamics officially opened its Robotics Metaplant Application Center at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America outside Savannah, Georgia on Monday, transitioning from pilot operations that began in June to full-scale operations. The center serves as a test bed and training center for integrating Atlas humanoids across Hyundai's automotive factories, with Boston Dynamics training the robots to take over repetitive parts sequencing and heavy-lifting tasks over the next few years and component assembly by 2030. Boston Dynamics, which became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyundai in July, said it plans to begin exploring use cases for Atlas in other industry sectors next year, and will move into a new building at the Georgia site that will make its test bed and training center 10 times its current size. The center is a key part of Hyundai's larger strategy unveiled in January to restructure its manufacturing environments for humans to work safely alongside robots; Hyundai initially plans to deploy 25,000 Atlas units across its global plants, including Kia factories, over the next few years, and will establish a U.S. facility capable of producing 30,000 robots per year, with a location not disclosed. Separately, the Toyota Group aims to deploy close to 400,000 robots to update its aging factories and supplier network, starting in 2028 with 150,000 units across Toyota Motor Corp. and the Toyota Group plus 250,000 units at various suppliers, a total that includes replacement of existing robots and new units such as humanoids; Toyota's factory automation efforts could cost up to $6.4 billion per year, according to Reuters.
E Tech Group Signs Integrator Agreement with Rainbow Robotics for U.S. Collaborative Robots
E Tech Group announced an Authorized System Integrator Agreement with Rainbow Robotics that expands its collaborative robotics offering across the United States. Under the agreement, E Tech Group serves as a Servicing System Integrator for Rainbow Robotics' collaborative robot lineup, deploying and integrating the robots in laboratory and industrial automation applications including machine tending, welding, palletizing, inspection, and assembly. Rainbow Robotics offers collaborative robot models for laboratory, life sciences, and food and beverage environments, including NSF/ANSI 169-certified models with IP66 protection and full-aluminum construction for hygienic and washdown applications, plus a dedicated welding interface with built-in weaving patterns. E Tech Group will provide installation at customer sites and first-level service, including authorized warranty-related support, and for laboratory automation projects it supplies robotic workcell integration, connectivity among laboratory instruments, schedulers and LIMS platforms, controls and data integration, and validation and documentation support. Luke Jung, Director of Rainbow Robotics USA, said E Tech Group's systems integration expertise, particularly in laboratory automation, made it a natural fit, while Sura Hadi, Director of Lab Automation and Industrial Robotics at E Tech Group, said the addition gives customers greater flexibility to select the right technology for their application.
QAD | Redzone to Integrate NVIDIA AI for Manufacturing Intelligence
QAD | Redzone announced at Champions of Manufacturing in Chicago that it plans to integrate NVIDIA technologies to accelerate Manufacturing Intelligence. The company intends to combine its manufacturing context and footprint across thousands of manufacturing plants with NVIDIA accelerated computing and AI to build a federated intelligence layer connecting the factory floor with ERP, supply chain, quality and workforce systems. Initial capabilities will leverage NVIDIA's NVDinoV2 vision foundation model for quality inspection, with a downstream reasoning layer to explain what is detected and what it means for the production order, quality record and workflow it touches. QAD | Redzone also intends to use NVIDIA multimodal AI to process documents such as certificates of analysis, supplier documents, quality records, invoices, delivery notes, specifications and compliance documentation, and is evaluating NVIDIA's NeMo Switchyard, an intelligent routing layer that directs routine manufacturing AI decisions to optimized local models while routing complex reasoning to frontier AI. The company, backed by Thoma Bravo, intends to begin structured deployments with selected manufacturing customers focused initially on visual intelligence, intelligent document processing, conversational Manufacturing Intelligence and accelerated production optimization, with the objective of demonstrating measurable value in 90 days. "Manufacturers are surrounded by intelligence, but today most of it is trapped," said Sanjay Brahmawar, CEO of QAD | Redzone, adding that the ambition is to federate that intelligence and put it to work.
