Equinix IncEurope's data center colocation market is projected to grow from USD 11.65 billion in 2025 to USD 46.51 billion by 2031, a 25.95% compound annual growth rate, according to a new report from ResearchAndMarkets.com. The expansion is driven by artificial intelligence adoption, hyperscale cloud growth, enterprise digital transformation and demand for secure, scalable and energy-efficient capacity. Operators are investing across the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, Italy, the Nordic countries, and Central and Eastern Europe, with the United Kingdom remaining Europe's largest colocation market and forecast to grow at a 28.84% CAGR, while the Nordics are the fastest-growing region and Finland is expected to deliver the highest Nordic growth. The report highlights AI-ready development, including Data Center Partners' planned Munich facility with more than 17 MW of IT capacity announced in January 2025 and Carbon3.ai's sovereign AI platform launched in September 2025 with Hewlett Packard Enterprise. It also cites liquid cooling adoption, such as Vertiv's CoolCenter Immersion system pod introduced in November 2025 supporting approximately 25 kW to 240 kW per system, and heat reuse projects including nLighten's agreement in February 2026 to supply approximately 1.8 MW of recovered heat from its Stuttgart data center to a local district heating network. Leading operators named include Equinix, Digital Realty, NTT DATA, CyrusOne, Vantage Data Centers and STACK Infrastructure.
