European stocks opened slightly higher on 24 July 2026, after posting their steepest drop in more than two weeks the previous day. The STOXX 600 opened at 638.24 points, down 0.16%, before turning positive. France's CAC-40 opened at 8,284.68 points, down 0.17%, while Germany's DAX opened at 24,830.41 points, up 0.27%. Investors continue to monitor the impact of new US tariffs imposed on more than 60 countries, as well as Middle East tensions that are keeping oil prices elevated, which could weigh on corporate profits and fuel inflationary pressures. However, expectations that the tariff rate for the European Union will be capped at no more than 10% suggest the pressure on European exports may not be as severe as for other trading partners.
