European stocks edged higher today after posting their biggest drop in more than two weeks yesterday, with investors continuing to assess the new US tariff measures imposed on 60 countries worldwide and closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East. The STOXX 600 index opened at 638.24 points, down 1.03 points or 0.16 percent, before recovering into positive territory shortly after the start of trading. France's CAC-40 index opened at 8,284.68 points, down 14.41 points or 0.17 percent, while Germany's DAX index opened at 24,830.41 points, up 67.29 points or 0.27 percent. The tariff rate applied to the European Union is expected to be capped at no more than 10 percent.
