The Sentix index for July, which measures investor sentiment in the eurozone, improved significantly beyond expectations, marking a third consecutive monthly rise. The index came in at minus 3.1, a sharp improvement from minus 13.4 the previous month, and beat the analyst consensus of minus 10.0 compiled by Reuters. The improvement in expectations was particularly pronounced in Germany, the eurozone's largest economy, with Sentix noting that a series of recently announced reform packages contributed to the upturn. The eurozone expectations index surged 15.8 points to 9.3, turning positive for the first time since March. The current situation index also rose, from minus 20.0 to minus 14.8.
