ExxonMobil has applied to Guyana's Environmental Protection Agency for a new exploration and appraisal program in the Stabroek Block, planning to drill up to 35 wells across four prospect areas. The drilling campaign is expected to begin in 2028 and run through the end of 2033, alongside other ongoing programs in the block. The company is already advancing several developments there, including Uaru, Whiptail and Hammerhead, and reached record production above 900,000 barrels per day in the first quarter. Its fifth floating production, storage and offloading vessel is slated to achieve first oil in 2026, further expanding capacity. The EPA has indicated the program alone is not expected to have significant environmental impacts, but a cumulative impact assessment will be required.
