Fervo Energy reported a first-quarter 2026 net loss of $31.8 million on an operating loss of $20.1 million, while advancing its flagship Cape Station enhanced geothermal project toward first power in the fourth quarter of 2026. The company, which completed a $2.2 billion initial public offering in May, said Cape Station Phase I, an approximately 100-megawatt installation, has finished drilling and stimulation of all initial wells and achieved mechanical completion of its first GeoBlock, with commissioning underway. Fervo also commenced construction of the 400-megawatt Cape Station Phase II and executed a Geothermal Framework Agreement with Google to support development of up to 3 gigawatts of geothermal capacity through 2033. Capital expenditures for the quarter were $172.8 million, up from $105.4 million a year earlier, and the company expects total capex of approximately $1.2 billion from the second quarter of 2026 through the first quarter of 2027. Fervo closed $421.4 million in non-recourse project financing for Cape Phase I, which it described as the first such financing for an enhanced geothermal systems project globally.
