FIBOCOMFibocom launches a new 5G module with 50% RAM reduction, improving cost and supply chain resilience.
Fibocom has launched the storage-optimized FG550-EAU 5G module, which reduces RAM from LPDDR4x 8Gb to 4Gb, cutting capacity by 50% while retaining full business functions. The module is based on the Samsung Exynos Modem platform and supports 3GPP Rel.16 with NR 5CC carrier aggregation, backward compatible with LTE Cat.20. The optimization addresses memory cost and supply volatility driven by AI server and data center demand, helping customers lower terminal BOM costs and improve supply chain resilience. Fibocom achieved stable deployment through low-level code review, memory scheduling optimization, and precise resource allocation, maintaining key features and improving power efficiency. The company will continue to collaborate with global FWA, mobile broadband, and IoT customers to deliver cost-competitive 5G terminal products.
