Fiserv, Inc.CEO succession with payments background, but sudden transition amid 70% stock decline may surprise investors.

Fiserv has appointed Takis Georgakopoulos as its new CEO, effective June 14, cementing the next chapter for the former JPMorgan Chase global head of payments. Georgakopoulos joined Fiserv in 2024 as a senior adviser and executive vice president, then rose to chief operating officer in April 2025 and co-president in October. He is known as the architect of a 2022 deal that gave JPMorgan a 49% stake in Greek fintech Viva Wallet, a transaction that later sparked a legal battle with Viva CEO Haris Karonis over valuation and growth restrictions. Fiserv also promoted Dhivya Suryadevara to president and granted CFO Paul Todd a $5 million stock award, while reaffirming growth targets set at a recent investor day. Analysts at Baird Equity Research called Georgakopoulos a logical replacement given his payments background, though some noted the sudden transition may surprise investors amid a 70% stock decline over the prior year.
