Rocket Now's zero commission fee model drove over 7 million app downloads, indicating strong user adoption.
In the food delivery industry, the adoption of same-price-as-in-store ordering, where customers can order via apps at the same prices as in the restaurant, is accelerating. Uber Eats Japan introduced this in March, and sales at around 22,000 restaurants increased by an average of about 80 percent. Demae-can also adopted it last year, with around 25,000 restaurants participating, leading to user growth. Rocket Now, a startup that launched its service in January 2025, offers zero commission fees and surpassed 7 million app downloads in June. Meanwhile, restaurant analyst Daisuke Miwa pointed out that this trend could trigger price competition among restaurants, and that gaining restaurant support is key to its long-term viability.
