Foreign direct investment projects in Britain fell 26 percent to 1,020 last year, a record low, according to Department for Business and Trade data. The decline marks the third successive annual drop and has accelerated under Labour, with only 69,166 jobs created from inbound projects, down 20 percent from 2020-21. Kemi Badenoch said the figures were a damning indictment of Labour, which has made Britain hostile to business through higher taxes and increased regulation. Clean energy investments accounted for just 54 of the 669 new government-supported FDI projects, while digital and technologies led with more than half of jobs created. Joe Marshall of the National Centre for Universities and Business called the 26 percent single-year drop deeply concerning, warning of a sustained weakening in UK investment appeal.
