According to the US Treasury's May statistics on foreign portfolio holdings, overseas investors were net buyers of US securities by 132 billion dollars in May. Of this, net purchases of US equities totaled 134 billion dollars, bringing the 12-month total to 909 billion dollars. Meanwhile, foreign holdings of US Treasuries fell by 43.5 billion dollars. Net purchases of long-term Treasuries were 56.6 billion dollars, and net purchases of corporate bonds were 52.5 billion dollars.
