Four industry sponsors have committed $100,000 to launch the Medicinal Hazard Data Standardization Consortium, a nonprofit global collaboration developing standardized Medicinal Hazard Data Sheets. The funding from Pharmacy Stars, BD, EQUASHIELD, and EuroBioConcept addresses the fragmented hazardous drug classification across NIOSH, USP <800>, ISOPP, and European directives, which leaves hospitals and pharmacies to independently assess toxicological risks. The consortium will maintain an open, consensus-governed framework to identify and communicate hazards across the drug lifecycle, with outputs free from commercial influence. The announcement coincides with the 84th FIP World Congress in Montréal, where a presentation on an internationally harmonized hazardous drug list will be given on September 1.
