The French government has again lowered its economic growth forecast for 2026, amid challenges in controlling a high budget deficit. French Finance Minister Roland Lescure said on Friday that France's gross domestic product in 2026 is expected to expand by only 0.5%, down from the previous estimate of 0.7%, further complicating the government's efforts to control its fiscal position and reduce the budget deficit. For 2027, Lescure expects the French economy to recover, with GDP likely to expand by 1%.
