Germany's trade surplus widened to €19.1 billion in May from a revised €14.7 billion in April, well above the €14.8 billion consensus and the largest surplus since February. Exports rose 0.9% month-on-month to €137.9 billion, a more than 3½-year high, versus expectations for a 0.3% decline, while imports fell 2.5% to €118.8 billion, a three-month low, against forecasts for a 0.1% increase. Year-to-date through May, Germany recorded an €88.4 billion trade surplus.
