SK Hynix IncShares dropped 9.61% despite profit surge, as sentiment toward AI-linked chipmakers turned sharply negative, indicating weak demand outlook.

Global shares struggled to push higher on Wednesday as investors counted down to a Federal Reserve rate decision and earnings from tech heavyweights Microsoft and Meta. The MSCI All Country World Price index dipped 0.14%, hovering near its lowest level in a month, while the pan-European STOXX 600 benchmark was flat and U.S. futures edged higher. Sentiment toward AI-linked chipmakers turned sharply negative, with South Korea's KOSPI falling nearly 6% a day after sinking more than 10% to a three-month low, and SK Hynix shares dropping 9.61% despite a sixfold jump in quarterly profit. Brent crude futures rose 5.34% to $88.58 a barrel on fresh Middle East strikes, and the yield on the benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury note rose 2.65 basis points to 4.6305%.
