Domestic gold prices opened on September 15 up 150 baht per baht weight of gold from yesterday's closing price, according to the Gold Traders Association. At 9:01 a.m., gold ornaments were selling at 68,550.00 baht per baht weight of gold and buying at 66,203.72 baht per baht weight of gold, while gold bars were selling at 67,750.00 baht per baht weight of gold and buying at 67,550.00 baht per baht weight of gold. Gold Spot stood at 4,305.00 dollars per ounce. Poon Panichpibool, a money and capital market strategist at Krungthai GLOBAL MARKETS of Krungthai Bank, said that although the overall financial market atmosphere is in a risk-off mode, concerns over the interest rate outlook of major central banks continued to pressure COMEX gold futures for December 2026 delivery to fluctuate around 4,310 to 4,360 dollars per ounce. Earlier, gold prices fell to their lowest in more than a month, with spot down 1.8% at 4,271.59 dollars per ounce, the lowest since August 7, and U.S. futures down 2.2% at 4,311.20 dollars per ounce, after oil prices surged and the U.S. consumer price index rose 0.4% last month, reinforcing expectations that the Fed will raise interest rates at this week's meeting. Investors put the probability at about 89%, according to data from the CME's FedWatch tool, while the Bank of Japan is also expected to raise interest rates on Friday.
