US Treasury yields decline on peace talk progress, lowering yields.
Gold prices surged the most in seven months, supported by a decline in US Treasury yields following signs of progress in peace talks between the United States and Iran, which could lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Global gold prices closed up 168 dollars, or 4.14 percent, at 4,247 dollars, after hitting an intraday high of 4,302 dollars. The SPDR Gold Trust bought 4.85 tonnes the previous day, bringing its current holdings to 1,014.15 tonnes. Domestic gold prices rose 1,900 baht, with gold bars selling at 67,150 baht and gold ornaments at 67,950 baht.
