Alphabet Inc Class CGoogle Cloud launches Taiwan region with AI security platform for local banks, hospitals, chipmakers, driving demand.
Google Cloud activated Google Security Operations in its new Taiwan Region, providing local banks, hospitals and chipmakers an AI-powered defense platform that keeps sensitive data in-country. The move extends Alphabet's push into regulated industries, with Google Cloud revenue jumping 82% to $24.8 billion last quarter and operating margin climbing from 20.7% to 35.6%. Alphabet is also selling custom Tensor Processing Units directly to outside customers, challenging Nvidia's hold on the AI accelerator market, while D.A. Davidson's Gil Luria estimates the chip business could be worth nearly $900 billion. However, Alphabet raised its 2026 capital expenditure guidance to between $195 billion and $205 billion, and underlying earnings last quarter were closer to $2.85 per share after stripping out a $99 billion unrealized gain on equity securities.
