Alphabet Inc Class CAlphabet's off-balance-sheet guarantees surged to $43.8B, increasing financial exposure but also potential upside from warrants.

Alphabet's Google has rapidly expanded its use of financial guarantees to support AI infrastructure, with maximum exposure jumping from $6.5 billion to $43.8 billion in just three quarters. The guarantees back data center leases where AI cloud provider Fluidstack rents computing capacity powered by Google's TPUs to Anthropic, allowing lenders to offer lower rates because Alphabet stands behind the obligations. Alphabet's total off-balance-sheet AI-related commitments now exceed $150 billion, including $24.1 billion in future guarantees awaiting final terms, $85.2 billion in signed but uncommenced data center leases, and $7.6 billion in power-related guarantees. Despite the $43.8 billion maximum exposure, Alphabet recorded only an $815 million liability on its balance sheet, reflecting management's estimate of probable losses. The company also received equity warrants in some deals, potentially representing roughly 14% of TeraWulf and 5.4% of Cipher Digital, giving it additional upside from the AI infrastructure boom.
